3 Steps: PSD to XHTML/HTML/CSS/JS Conversion in Just 8 Hours

December 25th, 2008

This article describes a simple 3-step conversion process of PSD to XHTML/HTML done at WOSG.

Step 1
Project Scoping

WOSG gets the clients design in PSD or any other image formats such as JPG, GIF, AI or even existing markup. WOSG operation’s team analyses the client’s requirements in depth and then discuss cost and delivery time with the client. Once agreement is reached, we will move to step 2.

Step 2
Project Planning & Implementation

The team at WOSG is divided into 3 sub-teams.
1. Customer Service Team: The customer service team has rich experience in dealing with both corporate and individual clients. This job involves communication with multiple levels of hierarchies.  Regardless the size of the job, our customer service team will always endeavour to give our clients as much help as we can.
2.  Programming Team: Based on the full analysis of project requirements, the professional programmers at WOSG begin to write valid, well-structured, and semantic XHTML compliant, hand-code for the project.
3.  Quality Assurance team: The Quality Assurance Team is to ensure the best quality is always delivered to the client.  The entire process of project work is supervised by the full-time and dedicated Quality Assurance officers.  After the programmers have completed the project work, the QA officers compare the sliced pages with the original design to check whether the pages are exact pixel-perfect like the original design; then they inspect the code quality step by step against the project checklist. Then if required, nail down the revisions needed for the project. Finally programmers will resume the modified work according to QA’s suggestions (if any).  The goal is always to meet the clients’ needs with first release of each project.

Step 3
Project Delivery

The delivery time is a crucial factor for each and every client and WOSG deeply understands that achieving this goal is very important. (One of WOSG goals is to meet the clients’ requirements with first release of each project.) The minimum turnaround time is 8 working hours.

A little bit more facts ….
All the projects are managed using an in-house developed project management system and intelligently scheduled according to the project’s complexity and urgency of the task order. In addition, WOSG has a dedicated staff keeping an eye on the time arrangement for each task.
Over the years, with the above simple strategy, WOSG have satisfied a long list of clients and will go on to satisfy more and more clients in the coming future.

Google Chrome: A new open source browser developed by Google

December 22nd, 2008

Google Chrome has released its first official version on 12, December, 2008 after 3 months of the beta version.

Chrome combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology which makes the web faster, safer, and easier.

On the surface, the browser window is simple and streamlined. It is similar to the classic Google homepage. Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go. Under the hood, Chrome is able to run most complex web applications much better than IE. It is a modern platform for web pages and applications.

As usual, WOSG is always delighted to find any useful resources that can help drive the web forward. Our professional coding service always focuses on the browsers compatibility when coding the pages. Through our experience and practices, as long as we get the pages displayed pixel-perfectly on Safari, then we can make the code test well in Chrome too with small tweaks.

Apart from the previous major browser compatibility we support: IE 6/7, Firefox 2/3, Opera 9.5, and Safari 2/3. Our code will now also be compatible with Chrome 1.0.

Your Trusted PSD to HTML/CSS/JS Partner

November 26th, 2008

As Web 2.0 and AJAX are getting popular day by day, the demand for high quality markup has increased dramatically.

To convert a nicely designed PSD to HTML/CSS pixel-perfect, cross-browser compatible, search engine friendly markup with dynamic elements is a time consuming activity.  Our PSD to HTML/CSS conversion team consists of highly experienced markup coding PSD to HTML/CSS programmers who can save your time greatly and lets you to focus on other priorities.

We have handled projects of different sizes, namely from a single page coding to slicing an entire website with dozens of pages.  Our clientele list includes reputed Creative Agencies, Web Design Firms and freelancers across the globe.  Irrespective of the complexity of your design, our experienced PSD to HTML/CSS programmers have executed projects within the promised timeline and budget.

We also provide dedicated programming resources to work with our client’s own team.  One featured project we have done is for Quarksoft, who is an America-based professional Web & IT solution provider; they specialize in web and software development with cutting edge ASP.NET technology.  Quarksoft approached us with a Web 2.0 project called “Savvy Auntie.”, which was designed by Syrup, a creative agency based in New York City.

SavvyAuntie.com is privately owned and operated by SavvyAuntie.com Inc, New York. It is a website of about 100 pages and to execute the project (Slicing of high quality PSD to HTML/CSS) . For this, we had to coordinate with three teams from three different countries and different time zones.  We acted as the web front end programming team.  This project is more challenging than others, which required greater cooperation with internal team as well external teams.

Firstly, client needed us to get the 100 pages done in time.   Secondly, the web pages to be sliced which had a lot of various JS dynamic effects and customized functions, which can hardly be found in popular JS libraries and we had to create our own.  Before the project started, our customer service people worked out the layout of the folders, style sheet files hierarchy as well as naming convention first before we started coding to make sure each team member will generate code with consistent quality.

We agreed and planned things together; the rest of the work was smooth and went very well.  Inside the team, our customer service people, programmers and QA officer worked closely to ensure effective communication with the other teams and got the code thoroughly tested under all major browsers and also on Standard and Mac PC’s before it passed on to the development team.

At the end of the project, we delivered our client what we promised as given below:
•    Clean & valid W3C HTML/CSS
•    Lightweight web page
•    Sliced images
•    Cross Browser Compatibility (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla Safari & Opera)
•    Focus on usability and accessibility

It sounds simple to turn a web design to XHTML/CSS/JS since even a junior web programmer can get the job done with tools like Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Instead of spending days of time and hundreds of bucks to figure out how to solve the problems on the page or hiring new programmers to handle increasing jobs, you can simply outsource the job to us and we will take care of it for you in a highly professional fashion.

By taking advantage of our highly experienced XHTML/CSS/JS programming team and our proven QA process, you can now release yourself from time-consuming coding job and concentrate on your core strength, like designing and marketing, by utilizing our service.
